1. Information we collect
When you contact us, submit a review request, purchase a product or service, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect your name, email address, university or educational institution, field or programme of study, requested service, preferred deadline, order information, submitted academic documents, instructions, messages, and any other information you choose to provide. Our website and service providers may also process limited technical information, such as IP address, browser or device information, and security logs where necessary for the operation and protection of the website.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to respond to enquiries and review requests, provide the products and services you request, review submitted documents and provide academic feedback, communicate with you about your order, process and administer transactions, provide customer support, maintain necessary business and accounting records, prevent misuse, protect our rights, resolve disputes, and comply with applicable legal obligations. We do not use your personal information or academic documents for unrelated purposes.
3. Submitted documents
Any thesis, proposal, research plan, or other academic document you send to us is treated confidentially and is used only for providing the review or feedback service you request. We do not publish submitted documents, share them with other students or universities, use them as public examples, or use them for training purposes. If a document contains personal information relating to other individuals, you should include only information that is necessary for the review.
4. Payments
Payments may be processed through external payment providers. We do not store full payment card details. Digital product purchases may be processed through Lemon Squeezy, and other payment or financial service providers may be used where appropriate for particular transactions. These providers may process information necessary to complete transactions and meet their own legal obligations.
5. Legal basis for processing
We process personal information only where there is an appropriate legal basis. Information necessary to provide a purchased product or service, or to take steps you request before entering into a contract, is processed on the basis of the contract or pre-contractual steps. Certain information may be retained or processed because of accounting, taxation, regulatory, or other legal obligations. We may also process information where reasonably necessary for legitimate business interests, such as responding to enquiries, protecting the security of our services, preventing misuse, maintaining appropriate records, resolving disputes, and establishing or defending legal claims, provided that these interests do not override your rights and freedoms. Where processing is based specifically on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
6. Service providers and data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Where necessary to operate the website and provide our services, information may be processed by trusted service providers such as Formspree for website form submissions, Lemon Squeezy for digital product transactions, website hosting providers, email providers, accounting services, and other technical or administrative providers. These providers receive or process information only where necessary for their respective services or legal obligations. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
7. International data transfers
Some service providers may process or store personal information outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms required by applicable data protection law, such as an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards where required. You may contact us if you would like further information about safeguards relating to international transfers.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Submitted academic documents are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service and deal with relevant follow-up matters. You may request deletion of your submitted documents after the service has been completed, subject to information that we are legally required or reasonably entitled to retain. Enquiries and communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and maintain appropriate business records, while transaction, accounting, and other legally required records may be retained for the period required by applicable law. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, it will be deleted, anonymised, or otherwise securely removed where appropriate.
9. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion, restrict certain processing, object to certain processing, request portability of information you have provided to us, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal conditions or exceptions. Requests concerning your personal information can be sent to contact@solomonacademic.com.
10. Complaints
If you believe that your personal information has been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority. You are also welcome to contact us first so that we can try to address your concern directly.
